What is a digital footprint? And how do you use it to become a talent magnet?

Today, more than ever we live in a digital world.  We use the internet for everything, booking a restaurant; finding out the address of the local florist; communicating with friends and family; and yes also in our search for a new job or recruiting for one.  So, what is a digital footprint?  Simply, it is the information that exists about you which is readily available on the internet.  It has never been more important to manage what information anyone can find out about you and manage your security settings, in particular if you are looking for your next job or recruiting talent to your organisation.

Now is the right time to be aware of what information you are giving away about yourself online and to, as far as you can mange that profile and perception.  So if you are an organisation that wishes to recruit the right talent for your business to achieve the goals that you set out there are certain things which you need to consider. Certainily you need to:

  1. Have a clear vision for your business that potential new recruits can understand, relate to and buy into.
  2. Demonstrate that you value your staff and can provide a clear progression through your business and develop your teams in line not only with the business objectives but also with your individual employee’s ambitions.
  3. Create a flexible culture within your organisation enabling your staff to achieve their work/ life balance.

These are just some of the top things an organisation needs to be delivering against.  But this is no longer enough.  Those looking for roles will check out the interviewing manager or company before even getting meeting with them, this is where it is so important that your digital footprint communicates the message you want it to.  And on the reverse any recruiter will check out a potential candidates credentials and ‘check them out’ before they even get offered an interview.  If the CV and online presence fits it is a start.

If for example you are looking for someone to work in a drinks company then you probably want someone who is really sociable out a lot and will potentially be an ambassador for your organisation. The reverse maybe true if you are a legal firm or an accountants. Depending upon where you wish to work will depend on how you portray yourself.

So with all of the above in mind we are absolutely delighted to launch our NEW “Digital Footprint Workshop“.  Our new, dynamic and interactive 4-hour workshop has been designed with the small/ medium sized business in mind, it will be run by our specialist team of brand, digital and HR associates, combining our skills to show how to make the best digital impression both for an organisation and their individual employees and completely tailored to your organisation requirements.
