How to spring clean your social media!

Spring is sprung, and there is a definite warmth to the air (although you might not believe it with the rain over the last few days).  As with all things why not take the opportunity to spring clean your social media channels?  So what do I mean with this?  Well it is always a good idea to every quarter or so, to sense check that you are still going in the direction that you wish to and that you are focusing on your ideal client, promoting the messages that they are interested to hear from you about.  Read on to view a few simple, hopefully quick ways you can still ensure your marketing is on track and focused.

  1. Review and Delete your photos: Why not take half an hour or so to go through your social media channels and reconfirm that the images you have posted still accurately reflect you and your brand.
  2. Review your audience: Why not go through your Facebook likes, Instagram audience, Linked In connections and Twitter followers to make sure they are still valid.  With the social media channels changing algorithms and a reduced number of people now seeing your posts it is worth ensuring that they are still your ideal target audience, also be wary of fake accounts.
  3. Update your profiles: When was the last time you changed your profile or background image, perhaps now is a good time to refresh the summary of your business?  Take the time out to review your profiles and that it still works as hard as it could do for you.
  4. Review your groups: Do you find your Facebook group gets blocked with irrelevant posts?  If so perhaps review the number of groups you are part of, are they worthwhile?  If not then unselect them.
  5. Follow new businesses and contacts: As you are reviewing your followers and those you are connected with why not also take the opportunity to connect with those new busiensses that you have met or would like to work with.
  6. Results: Be aware of what posts and images you get the best engagement from your ideal clients. Make sure you plan to do more of those and less of the ones that don’t work so well.  It is always worth keeping an ongoing watchful eye on results regularly and not just as part of a quarterly review.

Whilst the above is focused around your social media channels that help drive your business, it is also worth also conducting a similar exercise across all of your marketing tools, similar principles could be applied to your email marketing channels as well.   CLICK HERE to read our other social media articles including one on “The Future of Facebook” and our “FREE Social media planning tool”.
